What requirements are needed to be a donor?

- Be between the age of 18 and 35 years old.
- Be of good psycho-physical health.
- Live in Majorca or be staying on the island a longer period of time since several check-ups are needed.

The ovum donation is anonymous. To select the donors, a detailed clinical history is created along with a gynaecological exam, blood tests, ultrasound, and test on the microbiology of the vagina and cervix and a psychological test. If the results are normal, he donor is accepted.

What are the risks of this procedure?

The ovum donation is accompanied by a strict medical control to assure the heath of the donor. Due to this personal control and attention there are very few complications.  From the beginning of the treatment the donors rely on a personal attention, 24 hours a day.

how is ovum donation performed

A daily hormone treatment is administered  (subcutaneous injection) in order to mature the ovum in the ovaries, which is controlled through ultrasounds and blood tests. The process takes about 10 to 12 days. Extracting ovums is done with a puncture and aspiration through the vagina without any type of surgery. It takes about 15 to 30 minutes followed by an hour recuperation. It does not require to check-in to the clinic.

What happens to the donated ovums?

The donated ovums are exclusively used for women or couples who need them.

What are the positive aspects of the donation?
